2026 update

Hello 2026!  Great to be back.

For the past 4 years I have been repurposing candle sticks, wall sconces and chandeliers into solar lights and not posting here as I have a FaceBook page and an Instagram account under Warm Hugs Design.  I missed sewing with my vintage linens so have decided to end making the solar lights and return to designing repurposed items with vintage linens!

I taught a very nice gal, Yari Allen of Yari's Garden Gifts in Loomis, California how to make my original solar lights and she began making and selling them this year. I have one last event coming up to sell my inventory of solar lights on May 2nd at the Alta Sierra Country Club's 5th Annual Spring Market from 9am to 5pm. Hope to see y'all there!  When I have events booked for my vintage pillowcase dresses, aprons, walker bags, and market totes I'll post here again.

Sadly to say, Warm Hugs Design business is closing it's doors and will no longer be selling at the farmer's markets.

It's been a blast these 4+ years meeting you all at the different markets and craft shows! Such an amazing experience. Hope I've inspired some of ya'll to repurpose and craft!

I wish you joy, peace and of course, warm hugs...

New items...Vintage Binky Clips and button bracelets!

Now that I'm a grandmother I have babies on the brain...  So what better way to use up some vintage materials of lace, yo-yo's, buttons and trim than to make Binky Clips!

Simply clip on the child's clothes then attach the binky to the bottom end and whala... no lost binky when it pops out of their mouths.  And so dang cute to boot!

I love vintage buttons... love creating new things using them!  Here is a stretchy bracelet in blue and white vintage buttons...so fun!

You can see these new designs in person at my next farmer's market in Auburn on Saturday, November 8th from 8am till noon.

Lake Tahoe in August for my quilting retreat was heavenly!  This is our view from our sewing room during the day.  I learned a lot from the experienced quilters at this retreat and made new friends.  Had so much fun!

Now that I'm a new grandma I am still loving designing baby things using my vintage buttons and linens.

Here is a new twist to a plain onsie:  I've added vintage buttons!  I made up some matching headbands and sell as a set too.  All hand sewn on for durability.

With July 4th around the corner I decided to use some red, white and blue vintage buttons as well as some vintage fabric yo-yo's on a few.  They are so festive and one of a kind.

Contact me if you need an original gift...I will be at my Auburn Farmer's Market again on July 12th.

I'm going to be a Grandma!

Our daughter and son-in-law let us know recently that they are expecting in April.  I'm so excited!  You all know how I say while in my booth "I sew it so they will come" in reference to all the baby items I have been making lately.  Well, it worked!  Don't know if it's a boy or girl yet - they are calling it peanut.  Ah....

I have to come up with some more boy things though as most of my items are girly.

Here is one of my vintage chenille bibs I make...I've got some blue chenille so off to sew...

I Love Vintage Buttons

My latest obsession is crafting with vintage buttons.  They are on my vintage fabric yo-yo headbands...made into hair clips and barrettes, and on my all white button headbands...

Then I found a wood letter "B" at my local thrift store...daughter's name begins with B so I thought I'd make something fun for her birthday this month using it.  Out came my trusty hot glue gun and stash of vintage white buttons.  Here is the finished project...see the little bird button on top right - just above the big button?  It's my favorite one!  This was a fun project.
