Sunbonnet Sue Vintage Pillowcase Dress

I named this vintage pillowcase dress Sunbonnet Sue. Just so fitting. I repurposed this pillowcase into a little girl's dress. Someone has hand embroidered this little darling. So adorable!

I've included a close up photo so you can see the embroidery. Wish I had time to do embroidery projects like this...

Stuffed Chenille and Vintage Fabric Bunnies

Here's my first attempt at making stuffed bunnies...one in vintage pink chenille with button eyes and one in blue and pink vintage fabric. I just love this fabric! I ended up taking off the button eyes and hand embroidered on the eyes instead. I worried about the choking hazard of button eyes if given to a youngster. Glad I did as I sold it today to someone who is giving it as a gift to a 2 year old! Next I'm making vintage chenille teddy bears... So fun!

Snow Storm

My Bunco pals and I rented a big beautiful cabin at Donner Lake for the weekend. We all attempted to travel up I80 yesterday afternoon only to be caught in the big snow storm. There was a 45 car pile up near Baxter and haz mat was called in for a truck spill. Five friends that left about and hour before I did ended up in a grid lock on the freeway for five hours before being turned back. Kim and I, in the second car, only made it up to Colfax before being turned back - took us three hours in total to go only approximately 30 miles. Cal Trans closed the freeway. We got snow down to Auburn which is pretty rare! Wish I had taken my camera to show the amounts of snow we were dealing with. So pretty but so scary. We all are grateful to be home safely. The nice owners of the cabin are allowing us to reschedule our trip too! So we'll go in a month or two when there is no chance of snow so we can enjoy the lovely deck over looking the lake.

Here's to wishing you all a safe, wonderful weekend.

Momma is doing much better thanks!

Some of you loyal blog friends know that my mother fell and broke her hip and leg just two weeks before Christmas. So we've been busy with hospital stay, surgery, rehab, then finding appropriate living placement... Mom is doing great for an 86 year old that has had some bad luck in 2010.

So just wanted to check in - will post more later. Here's to a much better 2011 for everyone!
