23rd Annual Holiday Craft Fair and Book Sale

Maidu Community Center & Library is holding their annual Holiday Craft Fair and Book Sale this coming Saturday, December 1st from 9am to 4pm in Roseville, CA.

There will be 140 crafters, unique handcrafted items, children's story times, specialty foods and drinks, used book sale, free parking and admission!

My booth will be outside of the Library.  There you will find Christmas items repurposed from vintage linens and buttons...like the infant vintage Christmas fabric Yo-Yo and button headbands  shown here.  I'm praying for some dry weather...

Update:  due to the rain and wind I have decided not to set up my outside booth. Sorry folks...you can find my new items next Saturday at the Foothill Farmer's Market in Old Town Auburn if it's not raining hard.

I still plan on going down to the Maidu Holiday Craft Fair to do some Christmas shopping though - love handmade gifts!

I Love Vintage Buttons

My latest obsession is crafting with vintage buttons.  They are on my vintage fabric yo-yo headbands...made into hair clips and barrettes, and on my all white button headbands...

Then I found a wood letter "B" at my local thrift store...daughter's name begins with B so I thought I'd make something fun for her birthday this month using it.  Out came my trusty hot glue gun and stash of vintage white buttons.  Here is the finished project...see the little bird button on top right - just above the big button?  It's my favorite one!  This was a fun project.

Twin Peaks Orchards Celebrating 100 Years of Tree Ripened Fruit

This event yesterday was so fun!  They had delicious food, nice local wine and beer, music was delightful...so much to do and see! The orchard is beautiful.  The packing shed was full of fresh fruit to taste - sorry, I forgot to take a photo to that...

Here is my vendor neighbor Cindy Siepert of Feather Weight Machine Maintenance.  She had wonderful vintage sewing machines.

Look at these two lovely sewing machines.  She has tons more too.  Such fun!

Across from my booth was Lyndsay Teragawa of Simply Charmed.  She makes beautiful jewelry.  I bought a bookmark to give as a gift - it's so cute!

Here's my booth - it's a work in progress...always changing.  I backed up to a shed which gave me great shade.  The morning was so nice - did get a bit hot by afternoon time...

The music was provided by the Stardust Cowboys.  They were so good! My booth was in a perfect location to enjoy them all day long.
Another vendor in our area of the orchard was Red Barn Roasting.  They roast delicious coffee.  This nice family is from Penryn and now part of our farmer's market association. Welcome!
Vicky and her family were there enjoying the festivities.  Tables and chairs were placed all around in the shade for the visitors.  It was great!  See ya in the Fall for Twin Peaks Orchard's next event.

Twin Peaks Orchards Summer Harvest Open House

I'll have a booth at this exciting event in Newcastle on Sunday, July 15th between 11am and 4pm.

Twin Peaks Orchards is celebrating 100 years of tree ripened fruit.  They are one of the farmers in the association I belong to and each week at our markets I get to munch on their yummy peaches!  Nothing quite like tasting a peach on Saturday morning that was picked the day prior from this local orchard.

The event is full of family friendly events (listed on flyer) so should be tons of fun!  Hope to see some of you there.  Come by my booth and say hi...

More Vintage Yo-Yo and Button Headbands

I'm loving one of my new displays for my girl's headbands.  What ya think?  It's so handy to have them ready to display in my booth this way too.  The flexible headbands on the bottom display are now easy to view.

Still so in love with my 1930's to 1950's Yo-Yo's and vintage buttons...having so much fun!

Here's a view from the top of the display - the 18" stretchy headbands look like flowers...ah...

The baby headbands needed a "gift tag" so I decided to use my leftover card stock and envelopes I had from daughter's wedding last year. The Martha Stewart cards and envelopes are perfect for this!  The envelopes hold the extra headband part in the back.  Oh yes I am a thrifty gal...everything has a use!

Vintage Yo-Yo and button headbands

I've posted earlier how I have an obsession with vintage buttons, well, now I've added to that obsession with vintage yo-yo's and I combine them!  Here is a sample of my creations...little girl's headbands.  They are displayed on burlap (which covers an empty oatmeal container cuz I'm thrifty like that).

Don't worry ladies, I have sizes for us big girls too.  They are displayed on an old bamboo vase that I painted.  I've put the yo-yo and button on thick or thin stretchy headbands.  Super cute and lots of fun!  Come see them in person at one of my Saturday markets this summer...

With my big event coming up this Sunday I wanted to add some items to my booth.  Antique dealer and friend, Ann sold me some jars of vintage buttons...and here are a few of the designs I came up with:

Vintage Pillowcase Dresses

I finally have some time to do a bit more
sewing and have made two new dresses...so
enjoying the creative process again. These
past few months I just didn't have time to
sew and missed it! I'm a happy girl again...

Love the cowboy print on
this one!

This sweet vintage pillowcase has adorable
embroidery and the bottom edge crocheted
hand work is in excellent condition...this
is a crisp white pillowcase. Can't wait
to see a little girl in this one!

Vintage Chenille Quilts

You all know how much I love vintage chenille - it's one of my favorite materials to work with these days...but my sewing machine doesn't care too much for it. Makes such a mess!
Anyway, here are two of the baby quilts I made using vintage chenille and new fabric together. My photos aren't the best but hopefully you can see how cute they turned out...

Daughter's Wedding Photos

The ceremony was at Forest House Lodge's secret ceremony spot up in Foresthill, California. Beautiful setting overlooking the canyon with the Sierra mountain range as a back drop. We had clear skies, but oh so cold!

After the ceremony back to the rustic lodge for the reception.  Everything looked so pretty...

Our daughter asked both my husband and I to walk her down the aisle. Ah..........

Sean and Brianna exchanging vows with their good friend Ryan officiating.

The wedding party - our son is the second from the right.

Here's one of my favorites photos of sister and brother.

Love the Father Daughter dance photo!

And the Mother Daughter photo taken before the wedding.

The happy couple at the reception. Their faces really show the joy and love. We all had such a good time!
